There's Nothing to Gain from Being Pessimistic about a Situation

Although Peter Lynch mentioned this in a book, it actually applies to life as a whole. Humans are always more sensitive to losses than to gains (Prospect Theory). Because of this, we tend to view even the same situation negatively. There is nothing to gain from being pessimistic about the here and now.
