Humans Inherently Seek Patterns

Just as a cat cannot help but chase something moving, humans enjoy finding patterns. When there is a button that delivers an electric shock with 70% probability and a button that delivers an electric shock with 30% probability, a rat, after learning, naturally chooses the button that delivers an electric shock with 30% probability. Humans, however, try to find patterns.

Humans believe that they can find patterns even in Gambling, and especially in lottery numbers. Likewise, they believe that patterns can be found in investment through past experience or charts. Charts are only a response from a short-term perspective, not a prediction from a long-term perspective.
