Ingroup bias / Home bias

The tendency of individuals to favor or give preferential treatment to their ingroup over an outgroup without justifiable reason. In investing, this is called home bias. The domestic bias puzzle is a term given to explain the fact that in most countries, individuals and institutions hold only a very small amount of foreign capital and strongly prefer domestic company stocks.
