John Templeton
John Templeton was born in 1912 in Winchester, a small town in Tennessee, USA. He graduated from Yale University at the top of his class and, with a Rhodes Scholarship, studied economics at Oxford University in England. In 1937, at age 25, he entered Wall Street and drew attention for his keen eye for picking out stocks whose corporate value was undervalued; in 1954 he founded the investment company Templeton Growth. He later expanded his investment scope worldwide, pioneering a new field called global funds, and was known by nicknames such as "the living legend of Wall Street" and "the spiritual investor." In addition to his business activities, he served as a trustee and dean of Princeton Theological Seminary, and in 1972 he established the Templeton Prize, often called the Nobel Prize for religion.
