It Was in 1997 That Korean Newspapers Properly Introduced NASDAQ in a Feature Article
Before that article, NASDAQ had mostly been introduced only briefly as the National Over-the-Counter Stock Association or as Nasadak. Then, in 1997, the Chosun Ilbo ran a feature article explaining in detail what NASDAQ is.
Marc Andreessen, the company's vice president, who at 22 had been a student at the University of Illinois Supercomputer Applications Center, pocketed $72 million (about 63 billion won) in a single day. At the company's launch in April 1994, the money Marc Andreessen invested was a mere $300. Yet the shares he received in return that day amounted to 3 million. It was the reward for sparking an Internet boom around the world with the 'World Wide Web'.
