What is Cyberpunk Design?

Emphasized Edge

Cyberpunk design is angular. Digital, the concept opposed to analog, lacks continuity.

Just like edges, glitch effects are used a lot to emphasize the digital. It's an effect of the digital that lacks continuity.

Neon

The backdrop of cyberpunk is inspired by Tokyo and Hong Kong of the 1980s, before Japan's bubble economy. Before LEDs became widespread in the mid-20th century, neon signs were long-lasting and easy to maintain, so they were an indispensable element of the night streets.

Color

Primary colors are used a lot, probably because much of the inspiration came from neon. Especially green: 80s–90s computers used green a lot due to low refresh rates. Also, green is the color that people can look at for the longest. The reason Cyberpunk 2077 uses a lot of yellow is1 because it is a color that catches the eye.
